Privacy Policy

FurFriend, operated by United Under God, is built to feel safe. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep collection to what the community needs to work.

1. What we collect

• Account: your email address (used to sign in) and password, handled by our authentication provider.
• Profile: your display name or nickname, an emoji avatar, an optional short bio, interests, and a coarse area label you choose.
• Pets: the pet details you add (name, species, breed, temperament, notes).
• Community activity: groups, play dates, listings, help requests/offers, reviews, and connections you create.
• Care records: the vet/health notes and reminders you keep — private to you by default.
• Safety signals: reports you file and people you block.

2. Location is kept coarse on purpose

We never store or show your exact home address. Any area you share is a broad label (like a neighborhood or town), and if approximate coordinates are used at all, they are snapped to a coarse grid (roughly 5 km) before they're saved, so your home can't be derived. Meetups are meant for named public places.

3. How we use your information

• Run the community: show your profile to neighbors, enable groups, play dates, listings, and help.
• Keep FurFriend safe: review reports, enforce blocks, and act against abuse.
• Maintain and improve the app and fix problems.

4. What we don't do

We do not sell your personal information, and we don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. Your private care records are not shown to other members.

5. Who can see what

Your profile and public pet profiles are visible to other signed-in members (unless you turn off the directory in your profile settings). When you block someone, you and that person can no longer see or contact each other. Care records are private to you.

6. Service providers

We use trusted infrastructure providers to host the app and its database (for example, our cloud hosting and Supabase for the database and authentication). They process data only to run FurFriend. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect people's safety.

7. How your data is protected

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access is enforced at the database level with row-level security so members can only reach data they're allowed to. No system is perfectly secure, so please protect your login details.

8. Your choices & rights

• Edit or delete your profile, pets, listings, and posts in the app at any time.
• Turn off directory visibility to stay private.
• Block or report anyone.
• Delete your account and associated data.

To make a request you can't complete yourself, reach us through the in-app help and report tools.

9. Children's privacy

FurFriend is intended for adults 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please report it and we'll remove it.

10. Data retention

We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your profile and associated content, except where we must retain limited records to meet legal obligations or protect the community.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll update the date above when we do; continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
